Can I Renew My CPR Online?

Good news! The Minnesota Board of Dentistry has extended the CPR re-certification to March 31st , 2021.

Why should I renew?

Having an updated CPR certification is required for all initial licensure, license renewals as well as nitrous oxide credentialing. The Minnesota Board of Dentistry only accepts CPR classes through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association in addition to a BLS course (health care provider labeled course).

Online only courses are not accepted and constitute only half of the course in its entirety. Read online course descriptions thoroughly with companies who market that they are associated with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Even with the potential association, the Board still will not approve this credentialing unless it is a hybrid option in which the didactic portion of the course is online and the in- person portion is also completed for complete certification.

What are the next steps?

In conclusion, if you have renewed your CPR online without a live hands-on training it will not be accepted by the Minnesota Board of Dentistry. There are several in-person CPR classes that are safe to attend as a result of complete sanitization and best COVID mitigation practices!
